Im Juli 2023 hatten wir die Gelegenheit, die altehrwürdige Sanchewski Fabrik im Baskenland zu besuchen. José Sancheski und seine Tochter Iciar führten uns durch die lange Geschichte des Unternehmens, die zurück reicht in die 30er Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts. In dem alten Gebäude sind die meisten, der in den vielen Jahren hergestellten Artikel, noch in Vitrinen ausgestellt.
Das in Irún (Spanien) ansässige Unternehmen Sancheski stellt schon seit 1934 Sportartikel her. Die Firma begann mit der Herstellung von Textil- und Lederwaren und entwickelte sich dann zur Produktionsstätte von Outdoor-Ausrüstung wie Skiern und Bergausrüstung, bevor sie 1966 ihre Anlagen und Maschinen auf die Herstellung von Skateboards aus Massivholz umstellte.
Sehr beeinduckt hat uns eine Trikotstrickmaschine von 1934.
Die erste Maschine, die Streifen in einem Arbeitsgang herstellen konnte. Die Breite der Streifen kann über die Kette außen an der Maschine eingestellt werden. Die Maschine wird in der Produktion nicht mehr genutzt, ist aber immer noch voll funktionsfähig!
Sehr früh in der Unternehmensgeschichte hat Sancheski Skier hergestellt. Gegen die Konkurrenz der starken französischen und österreichischen Marken konnte sich Sancheski später nicht behaupten, aber viele Techniken aus der Skifertigung sind auf die ersten Skateboard-Decks aus Massivholz angewandt worden, woraus sich Sancheski zu einer der innovativsten Marken in der Skateboard-Industrie entwickelt hat.
Das erste Skateboard von Sancheski. Aus Massivholz, mit Rollen aus Metall und Achsen, die direkt von den bereits vorher hergestellten Rollschuhen stammten. Vielleicht hält Andreas hier eines der ersten Skateboards der Welt in der Hand.
Diese Rollschuhe waren die Vorläufer der ersten Skateboards, die Sancheski seit 1966 herstellt.
Eine lange Beziehung gibt es zwischen Ski Sancheski SL und dem amerikanischen Skate-Schuh-Hersteller Vans. In den 70er Jahren hatte Sancheski eigene Skateboardteams, die bei Meisterschaften angetreten sind. Die Teamfahrer wurden natürlich mit Vans Schuhen ausgestattet.
Die aktuelle Sancheski Generation ist weltweit vor allem durch die Slide Sufskates bekannt. Bei unserem Besuch konnten wir auch schon einen Blick in die Zukunft werfen und können verraten, dass Zukunft und Vergangenheit genial zusammengebracht werden. Schon in wenigen Wochen können wir das Geheimnis lüften.
